April Blood Drive Update

Thanks to everyone who participated in St. John's Blood Drive on April 15th!  We had a steady flow of donors resulting in 19 units, just one short of our goal of 20 units.  That means we helped up to 57 people!  Congratulations!  A special thanks to Jan Bauer who worked the registration table, ensuring that donors moved quickly and smoothly through the process.  Our next blood drive is Sunday, October 28th.  The Goal is 30 units of blood collected, which means we’ll need 40 donors on the schedule and a team of volunteers.  If you plan to donate, remember you need to leave 56 days between donations.  ALSO:  We're looking for five interested volunteers to help with this upcoming drive.  This is an great opportunity for any High School aged kids who are in need of getting some Community Service hours.  This is an excellent way to contribute even if you are not eligible to give blood.  Please contact David Nau at 410.744.5700, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We need people to:

  • Recruit potential blood donors
  • Publish notices via the monthly Tidings, Bulletins, Phone Tree, Mailings, etc.
  • Advertise, advertise, advertise
  • Prepare the donor room
  • Staff the registration station and the food & drink canteen.
  • Encourage new blood donor participants
  • Get media coverage for the drive
  • Create flyers, signs, posters and other  promotional items
  • Contribute baked goods or drinks
  • Get community support from other churches, businesses, stores, libraries and schools
  • Recruit more donors.
  • Have fun!

October may seem a long way away, but to reach our new, increased goal, we need volunteers to be getting organized now.  Call the office and let’s get started!

The need is constant, the gratification is immediate.
